Locks of Love

27 May

So one day I noticed that I had turned into Cousin It from the Addams Family—well, a blond version anyway. I had long hair before Gabe and I started Neoganda but in the year and a half of hard work I just never made it to Supercuts.

So the time had come. Back in season one of Queer Eye, the only good season, a lot of the “project guys” had long hair and they would chop it and donate it to Locks of Love. Now was my chance to do something with this hair besides tie it in a crazy looking knot behind my head.

WHAT IS LOCKS OF LOVE?

Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. We meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses we provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.

Here’s the before and After photos. I feel so much better to get all that off me and it’s nice to know that it’ll help someone out. Hooray, I did something good!
