May 31, 1948 – September 25, 1980

When was the last time you listened to Led Zeppelin? Will music ever be this good again? I was 13 when John Bonham died and I was just starting to listen to music. Over the next few years I would learn every note of every album—yes those black things that spun around, they were so Victorian. These days I gobble up a new CD in a month and then it’s off the radar: lost somewhere under my car seat. After that I move on to the next new release, if there is one. After reading the list below go listen the “The Rain Song”. Fergie? Nickelback? You’ve got to be fucking kidding me. Old grumpy man signing off.

Good Luck Chuck Premiere

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

Me, Sheila, Gabe, Jonah, Ricky, and Vannesa all put our shiny shoes on and made it over the the Good Luck Chuck Premiere last night at the National Theater in Westwood. It was a fun movie and Lionsgate threw a really nice after party up the street. there was an open bar and a few little things to eat. I ate a hamburger the size of a 50 cent piece! Eddie Murphy made the rounds and so did Carson Kressley from “Queer Eye”. Carson didn’t have a bodyguard like Eddie. Never the less they did a great job pretending they weren’t together.

Sofa of the Month Club

This corner is a portal to another dimension or something. One day two sofas and two mattresses magically appear. Then, I come home from work and one sofa and both the mattresses are gone. The next morning the last sofa is gone. So much shit has come and gone it’s hard to keep up with. I always like to do a “reading” on the sofas to try and guess what their life was like before being left for dead on a corner in Van Nuys, but they’re just too fast for me.

Funky Mid-Century on Mulholland

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

Every day on my drive to work I see this cool old Mid-Century that is looking like it needs some serious love. Today the gate was open so I popped of a few shots. It’s on an awesome chunk of land at the very top of Mulholland and has some great views of the valley. This thing is so crazy 60’s. I mean it almost looks like and old museum or something. I’ll take a Spanish over a Mid-Century any day but there’s something about the house that I think is so cool. The is in shambles but the old thing is they are building something next to it. I wish I knew what was going on.

I was at the Ducati dealership with Gabe who was trying to figure out the best way to spend all his money when in walks Marcus Schenkenberg: male model dude from the 90’s. That guy’s tall.
