Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day

Not a bad film but not great either but still fun to watch but not gonna win any awards but it was better than Penelope. The production design was amazing and the acting was solid so the whole thing was easy on the eyes. Frances McDormand is always great but catch it on cable.

Eckhart Tolle is on Oprah

Eckhart Tolle has hit the big time. This is some pretty cool news because I’m such a fan. It’s totally free to sign up so check it out.

Listen to the podcast on iTunes!

Here’s a few pictures from when Sheila and I went to see him speak on Oct 30, 2006 at Royce Hall.

There was a crazy amount of security—look at us all lined up. We saw the Dali Lama at UCLA as well but I don’t remember it being like this.

It was a packed house.

We had first row seats. They were SOOOOOOOOOOOO awesome.

I’ll also spotted Dennis Quaid and Jeff Goldblum. Living in the moment is very trendy right “now”.

dentist-chair.jpg

So I went to the Dentist today for 3 filling and the first session of 5 of what will be a very deep cleaning of my teeth. It’s all part of my master plan to pull myself together after 40. I’ve been through countless dental dramas in my life. My teeth have been the source of a lot of disappointment. This time around I’m going in with a more positive attitude and I think it’s paying off. I was in the chair for an hour and a half but really it wasn’t a big deal. I still can’t feel the left side of my face but I’m sure that will come back soon. This whole course of work is gonna run me about $2,700. That kinda sucks but seeing as I haven’t been to the dentist since the Clinton administration I think I’m just lucky to have any teeth left at all.

I’d really like to get braces because the Austin Powers smile is getting old. We’ll see…

Blake Adams builds custom bikes

4 Mar

My buddy Blake builds these kick ass custom (kustom) bikes out of vintage cruiser. This weekend we raided Vladan’s studio (THANK YOU) and took a few pictures for what will soon be his new website—which is currently a holding page.

We tried setting up inside but we could make the chrome pop so we had to drag everything outside after a few test shots. Here’s how the shots turned out. Gonna do the photoshop work to clean them up

After we wrapped it up he took me on a tour of his secret lair. He’s got a 2 car garage in Santa Monica packs with custom bikes.

This is his chopper. I sat on it and I’m not really clear how you could ride it. I think I would make it a about a block before I laid it down going 7 mph. Check out all the chrome!

This one is a vintage Harley with original paint. This was owned by a real Hell’s Angel. I feel macho just saying it.

This is a work in progress.

And here’s all the bikes waiting for there chance to sparkle.

Gabe bought a real guitar a month ago and he already knows one chord! Once Guitar Hero showed up at the office the practicing stopped and the playing began. Rock out Gabe!

They’re big and they’re brown and I’m not talking about the salty chocolate balls of Isaac Hayes. I’m talking about these two glorious upholstered turds that were left for dead on my corner. Were these ever in style?

If I were Christopher Lowell I would make Richard Simmons look like Russell Crowe. But, more importantly as a celebrity decorator what would I do with these? Personally, I think I would set them on fire. However, Chris might call this “a design dilemma” but he’d jump right in and pick a paint color, add an accent fabric, some accessories, and decide on a window treatment that would match the room. Well, actually, he might set them on fire, too.

Patiently waiting for me to get out of the bookstore so we can go to the dog park.
