I cruised over the Laughlin’s house for a few hands of poker with the buds. it’s always nice to slow down and spend a little time with some old friends. And damn, we are getting old.

Strange thing though. When I show up I see Sean and Rick in a hot tub on his front patio. I want to make it clear that Laughlin lives in an apartment. Check out a few photos of the set up.

Maybe you remember the episode of Seinfeld where Kramer sets up a hot tub in his New York apartment. Well that was crazy right? I mean only on TV would you see something that nutty. Uhhh yeah…
It turns out the hot tub is was Valla’s and some little thing broke on it and Laughlin said he’d take it off his hands. He fixed it on the cheap and I have to say he kinda did a killer job installing it. He dropped in 220v electrical. The thing is sitting on a solid foundation of coarse gravel surrounded by pressure treated lumber. He’s also building an enclosure for some privacy or in his words, “So the titties can be free.” You’d have to hear him talk about his plans to drop in and outdoor grill and wok. I’m telling you he is living the dream.
Laughlin is following his bliss and breaking the rules. I think this is a lesson to us all. Let your titties be free.

My buddy Blake builds these kick ass custom (kustom) bikes out of vintage cruiser. This weekend we raided Vladan’s studio (THANK YOU) and took a few pictures for what will soon be his new website—which is currently a holding page.

We tried setting up inside but we could make the chrome pop so we had to drag everything outside after a few test shots. Here’s how the shots turned out. Gonna do the photoshop work to clean them up

After we wrapped it up he took me on a tour of his secret lair. He’s got a 2 car garage in Santa Monica packs with custom bikes.

This is his chopper. I sat on it and I’m not really clear how you could ride it. I think I would make it a about a block before I laid it down going 7 mph. Check out all the chrome!

This one is a vintage Harley with original paint. This was owned by a real Hell’s Angel. I feel macho just saying it.

This is a work in progress.

And here’s all the bikes waiting for there chance to sparkle.
Chad hit the big four-oh—I’m next. There was a nice little shindig at hs Dad’s house. It was a chance to catch up with homies. Everyone has kids now!
There was a nice surprise party tonight for Sean. He turned 40 in September but was out of town the country at the time. Here’s a few photos.

Surprise!

“I was starting to suspect something.”

Damn Andy your baby is cute.

“I wanna hold her.”

Lorin is like totally in love with Sean. I think there’s something going on with those two. She laughs at all his jokes and was totally checking him out all night.

Ok this one is a bit of an 80’s flashback. Gary, Lydia, Sean, and Polly. All SAMOHI alumni. I hope it’s not another 20 years till I see them again.

“Ooooh look, it’s bluetooth.”

“Too bad my iPhone battery is dead.”

The hostess and host Claudia and Tommy fire up the cake.

The cream corn was hit. Trust me it’s good.
Sean bought an FJ! Looking forward to taking a little road trip soon. I like the new color for ‘08: “sandstorm”.
He just got back from Jordan and brought me back a little gift. I’m sporting it Indian style. Ahhh yeah…

Gabe followed his bliss and bought his third Ducati this week. Soon he will have more motorcycles than Vanilla Ice.

I put together a little website for Chad’s documentary. It’s a really goood film he made. I think he gonna start selling a DVD pretty soon.
Check out the site and watch the trailer here Buskers: The Story of Street Performers
On Sunday Gabe turned 25! His mom sent him this awesome cake of him on his Ducati.

Valla packed up and went to Jordon to cut some film. Here’s a gallery of photos. He writes about his trip, and I quote “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, ligula suspendisse nulla pretium, rhoncus tempor placerat fermentum, enim integer ad vestibulum volutpat. Nisl rhoncus turpis est, vel elit, congue wisi enim nunc ultricies sit, magna tincidunt. Maecenas aliquam maecenas ligula nostra, accumsan taciti.”
